i saw the monster power AVS 2000 costing a monsterous $1,500 to stablize your voltage...are these things worth it?? Going to use with a nice 5.1 system including a rotel 1095 and a 60+" HDTV...?

I bought the AVS2000 last month and the only reason i picked one up is because I work at CCity and we were not going to carry them anymore so they got reduced for employees to $500. I have everything plugged into my Monster 2600MKII Conditioner and then I have that ran to the AVS2000. The question is does it help anything???? Probably not but it looks cool. One thing I like about it is I have to much voltage in my home theater so it gives me back voltage. Whats wild is when the A/C kicks on or washer and dryer start the AVS compensates for lost voltage and it shows in the guages.

Well,

it does help somehow, as you can see through yours.

IMO, power conditioners are useful and their main task is to protect your system against voltage peaks and maintaining a stable voltage throughout, in order to avoid ups & downs.

I have one Monster Power Bar since long ago (HT 1100) and haven't got any problems, so far. In other hand, I'd never pay that kind of coin for a power consitioner, though.
I'm sure you'll be very, very well served in the $200 range...

Furthermore, you might look for other brands, such as Belkin (same quality or even better than Monster and cheaper though).

Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Pointless, IMO not necessarily. Over-hyped necessity, IMO yes.

I purchased a panamax conditioner, not for any claims for better audio or video.
But, to protect $15k worth of gear and to sleep better. The electronics in
my furance and my computer got fried when I lost one of my phases to my
house current. It look like the spirit world took over my house. The lights were
getting bright as they would explode and then got dim. I think the voltages were
going from 75 - 130 volts. This particular problem was caused by a nick power line
when FIOS was installed in the neighborhood. I ran around unplugging everything I could.
