Just to let folk know that Lumagen have added 1080P24 support to their Vision range. This was done now that we have high quality displays like the JVC RS1/HD1 and Pioneer 5000ex which will accept this res and refresh, which is optimal for film source playback from 60Hz material.

Sounds great, I'll be testing that out later ... on my 5000EX. :)

This should be interesting. I have been sending 48p from my HDQ to the Pearl. Supposedly the Pearl displays 24p input at 96p, but no word on what it does with 48p.

This does not apply to the visionDVI, though, correct?

Well, 1080p24 output works on the HDQ :) A little early to give a verdict, but I did not see any obvious problems.

I was using this latest 1080p24 output firmware release with a sony pearl. the pearl shows that it is detecting a 1080/24 signal but the picture displayed at 1080p24 seems to my eyes (off a SD DVD played through an oppo 480i into lumagen) seems to judder more than feeding the pearl 1080p 47.95. anyone else notice this ?

Perhaps the Sony processes 48 differently from 24...so use 48 if you prefer it. It'll be interesting to see what others find.

24p output looks good to my Pearl. Pearl shows 24p input at memory 14. No noticeable stuttering at least with HD film sources. There is noticeable stutter with video sources which is expected.

I still will likely use 1080i pass-thru to the Pearl though as 1080p output disables the NR in the Pearl which helps IMO especially with HDTV film/video.

1080 HD test pattern performance is superior with 1080i pass thru as well which suggests the deinterlacing of the Pearl may be superior to that of the Lumagen.
