not sure if the title is clear or not so let me try and explain:

so I recently got a new SSR for my b-day and it's 6.1 surround I had a 5.1 system setup and am using the same speakers, I know that there won't be much difference but I had some extra $$$ and was able to get a 6th speaker from Sony for next to nothing, so any way I'm going to have to run the cable thru the ceiling and I'm going to put the speaker on the wall about 3ft behind the couch. I have been looking for speaker wire for about a week now and today I was in the store and noticed that some speaker wire was labeled "in-wall" and some weren't upon looking at the cable itself they don't look any different I looked at alot of cable and at different stores and noticed that most of them regardless if they say "in-wall" or not all looked the same.

what is difference and is it really all that necessary I only need about a 60ft run and my attic space is pretty clear so just curious what the difference is.

Yes, if running cable though the ceiling or walls, you should always use "in-wall" rated cable. For speaker wire it should say "CL2" or "CL3" on it. This "in-wall" cable is rated this way to prevent fires.
