My Z5 has right around 190 hours on it. The last three times I turned it on, the following happened:

1) Red LED turns green and door opens
2) Lamp doesn't light
3) Slight pause (around 5 seconds)
4) Door closes
5) Red and Amber light flash together

I flip the toggle in the back off then on, turn the projector on, and it is good to go. Should I get the factory involved? Any suggestions?

I have a Z5 too but haven't experienced this problem. I would suggest calling Sanyo, you may get a easy fix if you can gat a responce at all that is. Have you tried removing it from power source completely?

The last two times it started without incident. Weird!!

According to the manual....

When the red light and yellow light flash at the same time "a malfunction has occured" or "lamp has reached the end of its' life".

You have low lamp hours(so this rules out the lamp).

Cycling the power is similar to re-booting your computer. The "powering down" of the unit resets the microprocessor and probably clears the fault or malfunction.

If it continues you will probably have to send it in.
