Is the volume quiet when you guys play movies over HDMI? just curious...

or does it just happen that I had to crank the sound on my tv to hear THE PRESTIGE? the dialogue was soft and quiet and the "action scenes" with lightning bolts were deafening.

i popped Match Point in the player and it seemed to be much easier to hear.

Probably just the DVD. The audio volume depends on how th DVD was mastered.

You also might want to check the Audio Setup on "The Prestige" DVD, it's default setup may not be right for your system (each DVD default audio setup is different).

the default is DD5.1

Also make sure Audio DRC ( Dynamic Range Control ) is set to "Wide Range" in the dvd players settup menu.

'Standard" compresses the dynamic range of the audio.
