I have a Motorola DCT3416. It has both Firewire and SATA ports, but I'm not sure if they're active, or what the procedure is for connecting an external hard drive. I want to increase the 160gb capacity of the unit. Can I simply connect an external hard drive?

Have you tried connecting to your hard drive using the correct cable?
I tried connecting to my computer via IEEE. Was trying to import video from the DVR hard drive using Roxio CD Creator, but my computer although it recognizes that there was new hardware, could not instal it. If there was a CD with the software available that would be great....OR...if anyone knows how to do this...

I know it can be done because the cable guy reluctantly told me that he does it at home!
