Is there such a person that does ISF for video *and* would tune the audio for home theater (setting cross overs, slight repositioning of speakers, setup of D2 etc) as well specifically to an Anthem ? (with so many options in the D2 and loads of tricks, someone would have to own this reciever for me to get the most out of bringing someone on-site). I haven't heard of the ISF equivalent on the audio side.

I live in Cinci. Ohio and currently a Lexicon MC-1, Faroudja 2200 VP, 1 Panny 50" and just bought the Panny 65 1080p Plasma. Have all B&W speakers (Front, Center, Right, Rears and side speakers, Sub upfront and 2 rear subs for 7.1 Bass Enhance. Also bought the Toshiba XA2, Sunfire Amps, Pioneer Laser Disc, 611 ViP HD Dish Network Satellite.

Thinking about getting an Anthem D2 to replace the Faroudja and Mc-1.

**My wife gets migraines for going to the theater. I want her to have the absolute best Home Theater possible.

I know it's sacrilege to advocate anything positive about a retail store on a forum such as this that seems to, as a rule, hate retail stores and the salespeople that inhabit them.....

BUT.....the best set-up advice and action are to be had by those specialty high-end retail salespeople who are so passionate about the industry that they just don't type notes into forums, they actually make it their daily life's work!!! ;) So for all of you retail-haters out there, go quit your job, change careers and actually get experience in what you're talking and writing about, THEN talk to me about how you hate retail salespeople, mmkay?

Now the caveat here is that......these guys DO have to make a living and can't spend hours setting up your audiogon, ebay purchases for free out of the kindness of their heart when there are people who are open to paying retail pricing in return for good advice, vendor and dealer support, and system optimization. So my advice, given you're an Ohioan, would be to go to Progressive Audio in Columbus, seek out a salesperson whom you connect with (ie--not necessarily the first one to greet you), and start a collaboration on building your system.

I can tell you that as a salesperson, the biggest system trainwrecks are ALL from customers who think they're too cool for school and that everybody is out to get them, so they audiogon their way to a hodgepodge of stuff that they've never heard or seen work TOGETHER and then wonder where the magic is. The magic is in synergy and system balance, and getting the right stuff for any given application.

None of this is to say that there aren't deals to be had online. Of course there are! But if you are looking for expert set-up, either pay thousands to have the Bob Hodas's or Kevin Voeck's of the world set up your audio system (which you cobbled together based on your magazine/forum reading "experience"), or build a relationship with a local specialist by working with them in building a system that meets your quality needs, budget requirements, etc.

Scott,
I'm sorry that paraphrasing Rodney Dangerfield, you don't get no respect, but what does your response have to do with Michael's question? There was no retail hating bias in his post.

I checked Progressive Audio's site and while they carry some nice lines, they are not an Anthem dealer. It didn't sound like Michael wants to go out and purchase a new synergized system and Progressive doesn't sound like a D2 specialty firm.

I have no idea what Scott is really talking about unless it underlines that buying thru the internet is a bad idea and that going to a retail shop will give me some advice on purchases??

When I first read it I thought he responded to the wrong e-mail.. but either way...

I have had every Display device I have owned ISF'd. I would still like to do that but take a step further... I would like someone who does ISF and who knows the Anthem unit. why? Because there is so much tweakability to the unit and I would rather pay for someone that can hit the ground running. Secondarily on my really early Christmas list would like to find someone who is the audio equivalent of an ISF person. To tweak my current system and maybe make a few recommendations.

That's it :)

Did you mean to post that response in this thread?

The OP was asking about audio calibration.

You already have experience with ISF calibrators. I understand that many of them are as good at audio as they are at video. Have you spoken with any of them?
