walmart took back the POS sanyo and gave me a store credit, and the LG finally moved in yesterday.

OMG. this is a ****ing revelation compared to the hell burning experience that was the sanyo. the sanyo was so bad i couldn't even look at it for more than a few minutes before my head started hurting.... must've been a subtle flicker or something. but this, the lg, perfect. the hd is great. the color is fantastic and tones are completely natural. 5.1 dolby is stunning through my onkyo. even my macbook looks great at 720p. i notice bowing on the samsung in store, but nothing on the lg (mind you it's not like i put a straight edge on screen, but i did check to see if i noticed it, and i couldn't).

this is a great tv, worth the $460 i paid for it. the only drawback, really, is the lack of better channel management. i don't have a cable receiver, just the built-in qam tuner. qam channels are pretty weird... like, there is one channel, say channel 114. but channel 114 is actually 10 channels: 114-07, 114-08, 114-09 and so forth. and unfortunately, the channel editor in the LG gives you all nothing: you can't delete just channels 114-9 thru 114-14, for example. you delete channel 114, and everything prefix 114 is gone. and believe me, with time warner, there's a LOT of crap you want to delete.

it's a bit of a hassle, since i only watch abc, those 2 music video channels, and.... well, that's about it besides dvds on my macbook. i guess i can work around it.

oh, and if you're noticing edge blurriness, either you got a bad set or you sit way too close to the tv imo. this is a non-issue; i didn't catch anything with 20/15 vision.

Thats the way digital channels are. Our local channels are 6.1,6.2,6.3,8.1,8.2,12.1,12.2,12.3,23.1,35.1,35.2,65.1,65.2. My Directv guide recognizes them so the station banner and program appear. Some tuners do not do that so you have to memorize the number. You also might be seeing some unencrypted cable channels also.

I have the same set. What connections are you using to hook your MacBook up to it?

use the mini-dvi to dvi converter from apple, and then a pure av dvi-hdmi cable.

audio is fiber optic.

What a great tv - my wife got me one for Christmas and I love it. At $450 it's a steal.
LG makes some cutting edge products in other areas too, so I expect them to be a household word soon (LG sounds better than Goldstar).

The slim design saves alot of space, almost looks like an flat panel. I get very good ota hd using a silver sensor indoor antenna.

It does need to be tweaked though- out of the box all of the settings were maxed out to 100 and it looked not so good. I used Avia to help adjust the settings.

Is this set still in production?I can't seem to find it at any of the local retailers in my area and I've check several web sites which state it's no longer available.$450-460 diffidently seems like a steal for this set.I would be very interested if I could find it for around that price range. Thanks

Yeah, but at those prices you're better off just getting the Sony XBR970.

This TV is a great deal under $600, imo.
