View Full Version : Scratching noise when DVD+R loads

Hi...

I've made quite a few DVDs using my Pioneer 640 on Maxell DVD+Rs.

But just now I've started noticing a kind of scratching noise when they spin up in my regular Philips DVD player. They play fine, unless I use the chapter skip button. Then the player makes the same noise and "searches" for a while before it skips ahead, then plays fine again.

Like I said, I've used the same brand and type of DVD+R's since I got the thing, and they always worked perfectly until recently.

Another note, a regular, bought DVD movie does NOT do the same thing. They load normally and work fine when skipping chapters, etc.

Any thoughts you guys have would be helpful. Thanks.

Just because you buy Maxell's it doesn't mean that Maxell made them all. You can't assume they are the same as the previous batch that worked fine. If you still have a few from a previous batch, try them and see how they do. You might just have a batch of marginal DVD+R's?

They've all been from the same spindle...I bought like a 50 pack.

I'll give another brand a try I guess.
