<edit> After reading another post I got the idea to skip the TV altogether and run the audio straight from the cable box to the receiver. All is working now.
I just switched from DTV to local Cable since they had a much better deal for an HD-DVR set up. Anyway, the guy from the company came out. ran the cable and then hugh tailed it out of here. After he left, I started hooking everything back up and canot for the life of me get my sound to come out through my receiver (I am using the TV speakers right now). Here is my equipment (at least all the matters in this case):
Harmon/Kardon AVR-125 Receiver
JVC 1080P DLP TV - Model JVC 56FC97
Scientific Atlanta Cable HD-DVR box
Here is what I have tried.
1. Cable goes to the Cable box, HDMI out to the TV into HDMI Input 1. This stays the same throughout everything I have tried.
From here I have gone audio out from the TV with both (not at the same time) standard audio (Red/White) cables and also Digital Optical cable to my Receiver.
I have tried every combination of audio options in the menu on the TV. I made sure the input was set to optical on the receiver when using the optical cable. The Cable box audio is set to HDMI. No matter what I have done, there is no sound. I have tried turning off the TV speaker from the menu, so it's not something silly like that. However, it wouldn't suprise me if I am missing something simple. I know all the equipment works becuase it worked fine on my old DTV box. The only difference is it was not HD (it was only S-video and standard audio cables out from that box).
Any ideas?
