Regardless of room size (within reason of course) the STF-2 is a great way to start on a tight budget.

Especially since it was $399 a couple of months ago.

I'm also very interested in this thread. Assuming the $300 is a hard limit (Have to draw the line somewhere), where would everyone rank the following subs. These all seem to be in this 200 - 300 range and I think I've read at least one positive comment about each somewhere.

Athena AS P4100
bic-h100
Infinity PS-10
Polk PSW12
JBL Venue SUB12

230.00 shipped from ebay is a smokin deal on this sub imo.

Subs I'd be researching in the $200-$300 range would be,

http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/stf-1.html

http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/stf-2.html

Right now there is a B-Stock on sale for $389

The SVS is an excellent sub. I don't know how the others compare, since I've never auditioned them. Also depends on what size room your gear is going into.

this is for a bedroom, basically i was told the most important parts of a home theatre is the sub and the center speaker,as well as the fronts. the bedroom is not tiny but....its still a bedroom not big ol' living room i don't need anything insane.

Your mains are the most important, then the sub. and then center. :D

BIC H-100 over the HSU STF-1?

or should I suck it up and spend an extra $100 or so on the STF-2 or SVS PB10-ISD?

Thanks!

Dale

FYI the BIC H100 will now run you $239 at the cheapest price. Both ebay resellers upped their price because BIC has apparently raised the price $10 for a 3 year old sub.
