I'm not sure if it's just me or other having similar issue here. When PS3 loading PS2 game such as FFXII... in between the switch from XML to Playstation 2 screen... it seems the ps3 is scanning something and during that time I can see my tv flickering as well as I got a huge loud static sound for like 2 sec in between. It used to do that when I play PS3 games then I have DTS turned off. I'm running the sound with Dolby Digital 5.1(which i selected) with optical cable to my good old Gallant PST receiver.

My question is that... does it do it all the time when switching from XML to games with 2 sec huge load static sound?

Things I tested..
- Have DTS off, now PS3 game won't do that static sound
- Have AAC off, doesn't make much different
- Have Dolby Digital 5.1 off, doesn't make much different

I'm not too sure if anything do with PCM... then again I can't turn that off anyway...
My hope is that in the future... if PS3 patch would let you decide what will be running instead of having your preset and still doing its own flickering video/audio scan between movies/games...

Any help or idea would be great!

The "static" video is what happens when you go from the XMB to BD playback or video that is not of the same resolution. If your XMB is at 1080i and your game is 720p, there will be static.

As for static sound, it depends on your receiver. Some receivers are good at filtering out the optical input as it's receiving a source change audio. Some are not; I assume yours are not. The only way for you to not hear it is to get a new receiver.

oh you it's normal for PS3 to do fickering video/audio when switching from XMB to video/game? I just curious since I'm using optical cable to the PST receiver.
