View Full Version : MLB2K7 How is it? brad31 02-26-07, 10:05 AM MLB2K7 is being released today -- I won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow but for those of you who get the game today I am interested in your impressions. Mobius_570 02-26-07, 10:10 AM I pre-ordered mine and EB told me it would be available on 2/27. So I have to wait also. talbain 02-26-07, 12:04 PM the demo for the 360 is out today and it's pretty damn good. i'm quite impressed and i do NOT like the 2k baseball series. should be some very good stuff. hopefully 2k's nice history with bugs doesn't cripple the game like it did last year... spwolf 02-26-07, 12:10 PM When is Sony's MLB franchise being released? I think it should use Sixaxis better (let you swing it). I like NBA 2k7, but it has some minor issues and they simply refuse to support their customers. I am not sure if I will be buying 2k games anymore, if I can help it. More specifically, issues with setting up online games, which is an issue with firewalls, and they refuse to tell anything to their customers, while their forums have hundreds of people asking for ino. brad31 02-26-07, 12:19 PM When is Sony's MLB franchise being released? I think it should use Sixaxis better (let you swing it). Last date I saw was mid-April. I haven't really been able to find much information on how it is supposed to be. Probably a good sign that the PSP and PS2 versions are coming out this week -- but the PS3 version is not ready yet. Stew w/92 02-26-07, 12:40 PM Ill wait for MLB 07.....interested to see how this game turns out though Mobius_570 02-26-07, 01:19 PM As of now MLB '07 The Show is to be released April 3rd. PS3 Release Dates (Updated Every Monday) (http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html) xlone99x 02-27-07, 11:36 AM I read on ign that the creator of EA's MVP is actually the guy who's maing this game. So thats pretty good ! I believe the EA franchise has always been pretty good ! So I believe they will be taking care of a lot of the glitches ! Mobius_570 02-27-07, 12:57 PM Can't wait to get out of work and go pick up my copy. Finally something new to play on the PS3 until F.E.A.R.. arakail3 02-27-07, 01:22 PM I picked mine up during my lunch and can't wait to try it tonight. It looks awesome. Anyone play it yet? Durbo20vT 02-27-07, 01:28 PM I picked mine up during my lunch and can't wait to try it tonight. It looks awesome. Anyone play it yet? same here... but it looks as if i wont be able to play it until tomorrow evening :( protoboard 02-27-07, 01:59 PM can someone check if this game will upscale like VF5? vilmer_ 02-27-07, 02:30 PM can someone check if this game will upscale like VF5? That is what I am wondering as well... *Edit - according to someone on the PS3 forums, it doesn't :( BoSoxMole 02-27-07, 05:33 PM I got it a few hours ago and it's awesome. They take everything from 2K6 and improve on it. It's more realistic and just a great game. I don't really like using the Sixaxis controller for batting. It's kind of hard. I gave up on baseball games after MVP lost the MLB license, so I am hoping one of the 07 games will actually be able to top MVP 2005. Also, is it possible to turn off sixaxis batting and use a more traditional configuration? Durbo20vT 02-27-07, 09:45 PM Can you compare MLB 2k7 to MVP 2005, if you have have played MVP? I gave up on baseball games after MVP lost the MLB license, so I am hoping one of the 07 games will actually be able to top MVP 2005. Also, is it possible to turn off sixaxis batting and use a more traditional configuration? you can use sixaxis, the analog stick, or traditional X button for batting (you get the choice) i think the sixaxis way sucks because i cant figure it out haha. as for MVP 05 comparison, i did not play it so i can not compare but it seems like a solid game (from the hour or so i played) Pratt75 02-28-07, 10:22 AM This game does not upsacale to 1080i if anyone was still wondering. I tried this out yesterday. Mobius_570 02-28-07, 10:30 AM I can't get my settings to save for a different controller layout. I seem to be stuck in sixaxis mode. While this is fun to use, I would like to go back to classic or swing stick. I change it in the options but doesn't hold my selection. I know the first response to this is going to be "RTFM!". brad31 02-28-07, 12:27 PM Got the game last night. Overall impressed with it -- game play is pretty smooth and it looks nice. here are my initial impressions. Likes: 1) Variety of choices for hitting -- Sixaxis, Swing Stick or Classic. 2) Pitching is fun -- takes effort and getting used to -- I still give up too many home runs as I learn 3) Computer drafted intellignetly in Fantasy mode -- was really difficult to form a good team 4) Uniforms -- lots of choices for each team 5) Commentary -- better than usual seems to go with the game 6) Players look good - generaly have mannerisms and stance correct 7) Ballpark exteriors look good Dislikes: 1) Speed of the game -- takes a while to make each pitch and skip through animations (may be a way to fix this that I haven't found yet) 2) Can't change hitting method within game in Franchise -- started a game with Sixaxis and can't switch without ending game 3) No minor leagues in Franchise -- only the 35 players you draft show up -- hopefully this will change after I get to teh June amateur draft 4) Too many home runs -- by both me and computer -- should be able to fix with sliders 5) Fielding circle is too light a color -- light blue doesn't show up easily on grass makes it tough to get a good jump in the outfield. 6) Ballparks have a lot wrong -- Wrigley Field (have only scene Wrigley and Great American Ballpark so far) has blue seats instead of green, has seats in the outfield instead of bleachers, the inside concorse looks little like the ballpark Overall impressed after playing two exhibition games and one Franchise game. Don't feel comfortable rating the game until I get to play more and see what kind of glitches there are. bunsojr 02-28-07, 02:25 PM I suck at this game. I can't, for the life of me, distinguish where the pitch is coming when I'm batting, so I end up swinging at everything. walk 02-28-07, 04:06 PM Picked it up last night. So far I'm very very impressed. The ballparks are gorgeous and they offer you a lot of different angles (before the game, the crowd filing in, etc). The players look great, love the jerseys flapping in the wind! Lots of different camera angles too, and replays, highlights, closeups on the action, etc... That dirt-high home-plate camera looks amazing, you can almost feel the texture of the dirt! The crowds are great too, not just generic cardboard cutouts, many of them will be wearing the home-team's jersey and etc... The announcing is decent - Jon Miller is the king, Joe Morgan is... ok.... Pitching took some getting used to, but isn't hard to learn and feels good. Batting is difficult though. I was using 6axis mode, and that's fun, and not too hard once you get the timing down (I was swinging way too late at first) but there's no indication of what pitch type or where it might end up in/out of the zone. The last BB game I had was MVP 2005, that showed you a little colored shadow on the ball (green for changeup, red for curve or slider, etc...) and it was a lot easier to track where the pitch was going to end up. Plus they would have a "fat" pitch thing that showed you exactly where the ball was going. It also showed the hitter's hot/cold zones. Maybe buying the scouting report on the starting pitcher helps show you his pitches? I don't know, I didn't.. The only minor complaint is that there's a lot of fluff between plays that you can't instantly skip. With MVP 2005 I could play a full 9 inn. game in about 30 minutes. I would often sit and play 2-3 at a time... with this, it took me a full hour to play a regular game (score was like 6-4, not 15-20 or anything either..) neemo6 02-28-07, 04:15 PM I wonder how it will compare to MLB07, im patienly awaiting that one as I loved last years version. protoboard 02-28-07, 05:22 PM So, can you use a headset for chat while playing online? Or not? Rieper 02-28-07, 05:28 PM I wonder how it will compare to MLB07, im patienly awaiting that one as I loved last years version. Eh, I'll pick this one up and MLB07 later next month. I'll Ebay the one I dislike more. I just can't stand waiting for the regular season to begin. Go Yanks! Mobius_570 02-28-07, 06:56 PM I'm with you Rieper. Go Yanks. I know this is off topic but we just got the Yankee's farm team here at our local stadium this year. Scranton-Wilkes Barre Red Barons moved to Allentown (Philly's Farm Team) and we now have the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees! Can't wait for the season to begin. streyle 02-28-07, 07:00 PM I can't get my settings to save for a different controller layout. I seem to be stuck in sixaxis mode. So far i've notice major chugging when fielding, this thing has some serious fps problems. Detail isn't where I though it be either... deff not up to the 8xaa like the promo shots. The ground shots with major detail look like overlay tricks to me, as the normal textures are nowhere near that detail. Still getting used to the control, as I haven't played a good BB game in a year. But I like it so far. Just don't think it'll look like the promo shots! Mobius_570 02-28-07, 10:40 PM did you figure this out? i have the same problem Not yet. I even tried changing it while in the main options and still won't hold the setting. I'll try to play with it again tomorrow. arakail3 03-01-07, 12:35 PM I haven't gotten a chance to play mine yet - too many shows to catch up wiht on my DVR - I have a quick question. Are their roster updates for this game? Mobius_570 03-03-07, 11:06 AM did you figure this out? i have the same problem Finally got it to switch. You need to goto the Options menu then to VIP Settings and there is a setting called Batting Interface. That is where it is changed from sixaxis. |
