Hi,

I have a HR10 that has been working fairly well. Just upgraded my 6 year old 4x3 set (Sony KP53HS10) that does 1080i (w/ black bars), to a 52" LCD, love the TV. Unfortunately the picture is so nice, that I can see some more of the artifacts from the signal. :)

I live in NH, Boston is defined as my 'locals', which I currently only see in SD. The high def market feeds only seem to be from NY, and ABC told me to go F off and live with my antenna, which barely gets ABC out of Manchester NH.

Anyway...... my question is:

Will I benefit from the HR20 re: picture quality? Does it do mpeg4 whereas the HR10 doesn't? Are mpeg 4 channels even available yet, or is that supposed to be via a NEW receiver/satellite in the future?

Thanks!!

Boston HD locals have been active for a while. An HR20 and a 5LNB dish will get them now.

Thanks! Looks like I've been missing out for a while, re: locals in HD. I hadn't kept up to speed and didn't even know they were out yet.

re: mpeg4 and the HR20, versus the HR10 ---- I currently watch HD programming on the "national" networks out of New York (channel 80, 82, 88, etc). The quality is pretty good, but not perfect --- this is on the HR10.

I've just recently purchased a great LCD that really shines on a great feed, but I can notice the artifacts when the feed is sub-optimal. So, my question is --- is there any quality difference on the mpeg4 locals out of Boston (ON THE HR20) versus the national networks out of NY (channel 80, 82, 88, etc)?

Bonus-slightly-related-question --- has anybody had any luck on getting ABC to grant feeds? Currently, I don't receive ABC in high def (out of NY) because they refuse, claiming I should be able to pick it up with an antenna out of Manchester, NH. This 'sort of' works, but I hate having the antenna. When I go to Boston locals, (of which I currently receive ABC in low-def), will ABC grant me the Boston HD, or will they still claim that I need an antenna to pick up the Manchester, NH feed? (I live in NH).

Thanks!
