I have the dishnetwork high definition dvr. I would like to off-load some of my recorded material onto dvd. Some are hd , others are sd recordings. With this atsc switch over coming next month there a plenty of deals for dvd recorders with ntsc converters. Will these new dvd recorders give me any advantage considering the fact that I won't use the atsc tuner to record content directly?

I assume I will connect the component output of the vip622 to the input of the dvd recorder.

Also...is there any machine that records dual layer dvd-r material as one file. I understand most panasonic units require a second burn on the other layer.

It would be interesting to see if any of the new ATSC tuner DVD recorders have Components Inputs. I certainly hope they do but chances are they won't.
