I own the LST-3410A, but use it only rarely for recording over the air HDTV broadcasts. Now the dvr does not work, and what is worse, I cannot even highlight it under the troubleshooting section of the menu. I only get the message DVR initializing when I try and perform any DVR functions. Is there any other way to access the status of the hard drive, or anyway to reset the unit other than a long unplug? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i've never heard of this happening
i guess i would try everything "outside" the box first, access programs list, play a program, record, set a program to record, timeshift, others?
if that fails, look inside
maybe a loose connection inside, it's pretty easy to open up the box and check the ide and power cables
if you have another "compatible" drive to drop in there, you could try that too
