I've have had a powered DCM sub for about 12 years now and the woofer is bad. I would like some suggestions on a replacement sub. This sub is the second sub and is a down firing sub. Any sugestions would be great. Thanks

I was not going to ask this but I going to, is there much difference in a home audio sub and a car audio sub? Don't be to harsh?

I know they have 6inch woofers because I've seen them... Just do a search.

You are looking form a replacement driver?

IMHO: Why not get a whole new sub?

12 years old on that DCM... Things have evolved and for a driver to perform well it needs to match or at least be close to the parameters of the original.

As far as car vs home subs... Probably not. Not on the drivers anyway.

Thanks for the response. The reason for a replacement sub would be to keep cost down. This sub is not real nessasary but, any little bit helps and love the wall shaking when I watch a movie. I have a Velodyne 12" powered sub that I got last year when I bought all new equipment. If I could find some thing fairly cheap $200 to $300 I would defiantly look in to it but, like I said just trying to keep cost down. I've been looking around and it seems alittle hard to find just a replacement sub any help to point me in the right direction finding just a replacement sub would be great.

*I'm assuming the Velo is your primary systems sub. What exactly is the application you are using the other sub for?

There are plenty of options in that $200 to $300 price range that would waste that 6" sub. There are several threads in the forum about low cost options. Some are BELOW $200.

If you can find the specs on your original driver you can try and find one at PE that matches. I'd bet a replacement driver is $25-50 which is a lot less than a new sub you don't really need.
