View Full Version : Mounting center over plasma--mount?
SRHookEm 02-27-07, 04:44 PM I need to mount a Monitor Audio R250 horizontally over my plasma. The plasma is on the table stand, about 12" from the back wall to the front face.
The speaker depth is: 4 1/4" and it weighs 9 1/2 lbs.
Come someone recommend a mount that will extend out and allow me to angle the front downward some?

SRHookEm 02-27-07, 05:14 PM Thanks. I ordered the Vantage Point in black. Do you think that this will make the plasma top heavy sitting on a table stand? I have never bolted it down. Now I probably will.

Your welcome.
I highly doubt it, it's only about 15lbs more weight.
meat_rocket 02-28-07, 10:13 AM Hey SRhookem,
How do you like the Monitor Audio speakers? Im probably going to audition them later this week and was wondering what your thoughts were. What are you using for the L/R the R225s or R250s?
SRHookEm 02-28-07, 10:44 AM I have 5 R250's---LCR and surround. You need to hear them. They are the most accurate and clear speakers made for plasma that I have ever heard. And I listened to many, many speakers! They are beautiful too which is lacking from others IMO. You either get funky "modern" or ugly silver. I got mine in Rosemah. They have real wood veneer. This finish is as good as the sound!
adamanteus 02-28-07, 12:00 PM i have the vantage point mount and it works great on my LCD. bear in mind you will need a vantage point wall mount to mount the speaker holder to even if you not going to wall mount it (mine isnt wall mounted either). i got my center channel bracket and wall mount over at sj great deals online for around $70 shipped. over at sj they have a list of even more compatible vantage point wall mounts that it will work with. i got the cheapest as i have no plans to mount it and if i ever do the cheaper one will be fine.
ps- if you search around the forum for "help with center channel mounting" i answered this question before with some pictures of my unit in action.
SRHookEm 02-28-07, 12:17 PM You mean I need something other than this?

My plasma is on a stand on a table. This looks like it bolts to the back of the plasma and the top portion mounts to the speakers. I looked at your photos--I can't tell what other piece I need.
SRHookEm 02-28-07, 12:20 PM I don't see this mount at SJ. I don't see it at the Vantage Point site either. Is it gone?
adamanteus 02-28-07, 06:33 PM you need a wall mount to attach the speaker mount to. even if you are not mounting it to a wall. the speaker bracket attaches to the wall mount.
here is the speaker bracket: http://www.sjgreatdeals.com/vptax2lsb01b.html
here is the wall mount i used: http://www.sjgreatdeals.com/vptax2wl02b.html
the wall mount attaches to the back of your TV where you see the screw holes. then the speaker bracket attaches to that. without the wall mount the speaker bracket will not work. it would have nothing to attach to.
adamanteus 02-28-07, 06:40 PM if you look here you see sort of that is 2 pieces. the bracket is attached to the wall mount. the bracket for your speaker will screw into holes on the wall mount:

and of course the front view -which is what your aiming (pun intended) for:

SRHookEm 02-28-07, 06:41 PM my problem is that the table stand mounts to the same bolt holes that a wall mount would use. I may have to see if I can do something else. Shoot, I like the clean look of this.
I have the Pioneer 5070HD, 50" plasma. I don't think the mount you used would fit my TV anyway.
