Ok i bought a Klipsch rsw-15 after christmas (floor model). I was blown away by this sub at the store. We were in a easily 10,00 square foot showroom and this was BANGINNNNN!!! I bought it got it home hooked it up and it sound ok but not at all what I heard in the store. Also on some of the really heavy bass scenes the most horrible racket was coming out of it.I am pretty sure it was overexcursion(bottoming out). I was convinced it had something wrong with it and was just about to ship it off to Klipsh. I must have redone the calibration of this sub 3 dozen times. I just couldn't get anywhere near reference levels with out that horrible sound. Any way A friend told me to try one of his interconnects. So i thought why not I'll try. when I pull out my cabinet to get to the back of my reciever, I discover the arrows on my sub cable are pointing the wrong way. I turn it around. The sub rattles everything in my house. I can't believe the difference. I am watching U-571 as I write this, I love it. Thank you all for the great source of info.

I have the same sub and love it,...................... but I am skeptical that reversing the sub cable had any effect upon what you are describing. I'm sure others will "chime in" with the same skepticism.

What brand cable is it?

have all the skepticism you want I heard and felt the difference it made.

Radio shack gold series nothing special. If you have this sub then you know how it can sound I am telling you there just was no punch to it. I would not have believed this myself.

Perhaps the sub cable was not securely connected at first?

Reversing the direction of the cable has no effect on the sound. At best, it might make the cable less susceptible to interference, but even that claim is dubious.

Dont know why but my old cable (Monster :( ) had arrows on it also and the directions on the box said to make sure the arrows are pointing from receiver ---> ---> to the sub? Just wondering why they would spend the money on the markings if it doesnt matter?

From the monster website: http://www.monstercable.com/faqs/siteResults.asp?SiteID=10

Will I notice a difference if I hook up my cables in the wrong direction?

You probably will not, but if you think that you are experiencing noise problems, check that they are. Cables are directional for shielding purposes only. Should you not see these arrows, remember that the signal flow should go in the same direction of the print on the cable jacket, reading left to right away from the source (source to destination)

So it really has something to do with which end of the shielding is grounded?
