Since you can't record in HD or in progressive mode I am not sure there is any benefit from component over S-video. Nonetheless I do wish it was more widely available. But I would much rather have digital audio inputs so I can record DD 5.1.

Some STB's do not output widescreen 16x9 via s-video. My Motorola BMC 9022 HD-DVR only outputs widescreen 16x9 via component. "Component in" on my DVDR is important in my situation.

The advantage is being able to record in full wide screen 16x9 format when using component inputs. Many HD STB's letterbox wide screen when outputting via s-video. Those same STB's output full wide screen 16x9 (480i) via component. It is an artificial letterboxing issue not a PQ issue.

DLSDO - I think that was a tie!
