With the 16x dvd I am having problems buring dvds. 4x work but here are getting hard to find.

I did get a software update but that did not help. What are the other owners of xs32/34s doing?

I don't have a Toshiba but I took precautions 18 months ago when retailers were closing out their 4X DVD's. I bought about a 5 year supply of them at that time. Have you checked the on-line sellers for 4X DVD's. If anyone would have them I would expect the big on-line sellers to be the last to run out of them. If you can't find any new DVD's that work I guess it is time to buy a new recorder that can burn the 16X DVD's.

What does the manual say? I'm not sure if it's supposed to support any speed DVD-Rs..

Thanks for the info Dave. I ordered some online and if they work well, will bought much more to last.

The manual writes to -R and -RW at 2x, 4x and 8x version 2 and I have used 4x speed with hardly any coasters but the 16x (even if they say 1-16x) most are coasters.

I would think that they would be someway that this units do not become unable to write to dvds because the speeds are too fast. If it is toshiba is able towrite to say 8x and a 16x is used I thought that is would write at 8x but it appears to create errors instead on too many to make it worth trying any more 16x.
