I pre-ordered both "The Getaway" and "Bullitt" on Amazon and neither one has shipped out yet. "The Getaway now says it will ship tomarrow, but it's saying "Bullit" won't ship until the end of March! I've seen both of these movies on HD-DVD at the store already, but I'm starting to think there is something going on with the BD releases.
My copy of Getaway has shipped, but this morning I got an e-mail from Amazon saying Bullitt won't ship until March 5th - March 12th.
I suspect that production or pressing of 50 Gb BDs has been affected by the huge volume of 50 GB discs needed for Casino Royale; CR has been promised to the first 500,000 buyers of SONY's European PS3s. This could account for the Fox delays as well.

Received my copy of "The Getaway" from Amazon (Delaware office) yesterday. Perhaps they had to use a distro center further away?
Looking forward to The Getaway review. The film that set the standard for all "car chase" movies that came after it.

Thought I'd bump this thread instead of starting a new one.
I just got "Bullitt" from Amazon. I can't wait to go home and watch it. I'll be queuing up the car chase first thing--I've seen it enough times for the story. :D
Say what you will about the car chase in The Getaway, the one from Bullitt defined the concept of car chases in films.
I'm also looking forward to the Editing Doc since it is presented in 1080p goodness.
Anyone actually watched this yet? I didn't really see any other "Bullitt" threads after these initial posts about the shipping being delayed...

...I asked in another convoluted thread, but how does the menu work on the BD release? I've got the HD-DVD version on pre-order (still hasn't shipped), and thought to switch to the BD ver if it's in fact the same... I know the menu is far from the most important thing, but I'm still pretty curious how they deal with the realtime menu thing on warner BD releases...

Bullitt is a fairly ho-hum release from WB. So-so PQ and the audio was... get this... 192 kilobits/sec Dolby Digital!! That's right, WB used the crummy DVD encode. They couldn't even bother to do a 640 kilobits/sec re-encode because this was an HD release.
I wonder how shoddy The Getaway was.

I watched The Getaway (netflix) and I have to say that the PQ was fairly good for the age, but the mono 1.0 audio track was terribly painful to endure.
