View Full Version : Equipment Rack Color LCD Monitor unccgold 02-28-07, 12:37 PM For those of you looking for a monitor to add to your equipment rack, check out racksolutions. It costs around $500.00 BIGmouthinDC 02-28-07, 01:04 PM Hmmm looks nice http://www.racksolutions.com/images/flat-panel-mounts/rackmount-flat-panel-iso-225.gif but it only takes a VGA input. I have my in rack sharp LCD TV that has a number of inputs hooked up to HD Sat box and a OTA HD recorder both of those boxes output a non HD picture when the DVI/Hdmi outputs are active. Useful for programming a recording and dialing in a music channel without firing up the projector. dc_pilgrim 02-28-07, 01:18 PM Spendy. This one is neat: http://www.racksolutions.com/images/rack-mount-shelf/rackmount-monitor.gif umdivx 02-28-07, 02:24 PM i went a little different route, I took the 7" lcd display for a play station 1 system, and I am using the composit out from my receiver into the display. This allows me to que up anything I want without having the projector on. - Josh Tedd 02-28-07, 08:04 PM I am going yet another route :) I picked a HP TFT5110R with a broken lcd panel that takes up 1U of rack space. It'll be replaced with a 15" ELO touchscreen. The screen will be used with a pc for uncompressed music playback using XLobby as an overlay. The pc will get a composite input card that will go to the preamp so I can display equipment menus. I won't have to turn on the pj, but I will have to boot up the pc. The music pc will be a playback "device" only, so it won't have a keyboard installed. misterkit 07-24-09, 09:46 AM I'm thinking about adding a touchscreen monitor to my rack. I have 7-10U worth of space. It would be nice if it had an HDMI input, or DVI. I dont think I want a slide out shelf as I would like to have the screen showing at all times. I'm trying to do something similar to what Tedd has above. Any recommendations out there for/against doing this? Anyone have any difficulties with theirs or would not do it again? BitBass 07-24-09, 11:40 AM $500!!! Crikey! Pretty much every LCD panel out today has VESA mounts on the back. You can pickup a 22" LCD with VGA, DVI and maybe even HDMI for less than $150. DIY a bracket for the VESA to rackmount and you're good to go. Or just put it on a shelf in the rack. And here's an inexpensive 1U roll out keyboard and trackpad: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811997303&Tpk=norco%20keyboard mdputnam 07-24-09, 12:47 PM I bought a VESA LCD mounting bracket (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=A2910440&cs=04&c=us&l=en&dgc=SS&cid=27722&lid=628335) for $35. For the trim panel I made some measurements and took them over to a local sheet metal shop. They cut the trim panel out of brushed aluminum for $20. For DIYs just buy a sheet and cut it out yourself with a jig saw. |
