I never heard how the new BD stacked up against the HD DVD. I'm quite happy with the HD DVD because it looks excellent. I'm just surprised I haven't heard anything.

I this an MPEG2 release?

I'm curious, too. The HD DVD import is reference, imo. I wonder if there's anyone here who has seen both versions...

The video codec is AVC for both, I think.

First off, was the movie any good?

A lot of people don't like it, but I do.

Where do they get the gas for the tanks? Good question. Is it kind of a cheat that the big war shown on the cover is not in the film? Yep. Do Christan Bale and Matthew McConaughey kick all manner of dragon ass? Youbetcha.

I'm guessing the cover was the concept art for possible sequence that was never filmed because of budget constraints.

Would love to see it in a prequel :D

The HD DVD wins the cover art category for sure.

The BD version is AVC, average bitrate of 22Mbps. Comes with a 16/48kHz lpcm 5.1 audio.

I thought it looked pretty good, for a movie about post-apocalyptic england where everything is just burnt to ash. There is no greenery here, just brown and grey everywhere.

Matthew McConaughey definitely is in a different role than what we usually get. It took a while to recognize that this bald badass dude is actually the same guy from How to lose a guy in 10 days.

I had assumed that this movie would be almost unwatchable, as I am no longer a 16 year old male.

I was pleasantly suprised and really enjoyed it, would recommend this as a purchase. (can't speak to the BD quality)
