I can get a Definitive Technology Powerfield 15 Subwoofer, closeted for 4 years for $400, maybe less if I try to bargain.

Am I better to get a new sub for about the same $ or two 12" Venue Series subs?

Either would cost about the same for me.

This is for a large room... approx 30' x 25' x 9-15' (vaulted ceiling)

any other advice is appreciated!

I was hoping to read some responses. Im in the market for a sub also, looked like the right price.

I have no experience with either of those subs, so I can't comment on them.

Most people would say that at the <$800 price point (I say $800, as some really like a two PB10 system), one good sub is better than two okay subs. I went a little higher than $400, and got an SVS PB10. Looking back, the only other one I'd consider is a Rocket UFW-10 (**********) as I listen to music about half the time, but I have no regrets keeping the SVS when it comes to movie time.

Yes, the PB-10 is an EXCELLENT subwoofer for movie AND music. It provides some of the flattest responses for any amount of money and the output and extension are outstanding for its price range as well. You will not be sorry with the PB-10. If for some reason you are not completely satisfied you can return it within 45 days. I am doing a DIY project now, but I am going to hang onto my PB-10s for the forseeable future. They are amazingly good.
