I had the original Toshiba upconvert player that came out 2 years ago. Paid $200 & it just died. Pretty pissed that a $200 dvd player died after 2 years but thats what you get for bleeding edge I suppose.

So now I need a new one & cant afford over $100 so the Oppos are out. Looking at the LG, Sammy, & Philips @ Best Buy. (Not touching the Toshiba after my last experience). Any difference b/n all these.

Hooking it up through HDMI into my 52" Mits 52525 also 2 years old. Hooking up the sound through Coax or Opt cable into my new Onkyo 7.1 sound system.

Please give me your suggestion as to which one to buy. Thanks!!!!!

Samsung or you should be able to get a Sony as well. Not a big fan of LG or Philips.

Actually the philips 5960 is not bad if your budget is below $100.

I will second the DVB418 as the best I have seen available under $100. The Sony DVP-NS75H can possibly be found online at less than $100. I have both players and if you only need upscaling over HDMI, the 75H is probably better. The DVB418, with the LG LDA531 firmware, can play much more and upscale over component connections. I just checked and eCost has the DVP-NS75H refurbished for $54 plus shipping, probably $10-$15:

I just picked up the Sony NS75 ($94@Ultimate) and I'm very pleased with it.
