I am a huge Reservoir Dogs fan and have the special addition on DVD already, is the BR version worth the upgrade from upconverted SD DVD?

THANKS

some good info in there, but that thread got derailed tward the end with the film itself...
I guess my question would be if its worth the 20$ if I already have the SD version :)

Without a doubt. This is a quadruple-dip for me if you count the SD DVDs, but it was well worth it.

I've owned the VHS, laserdisc and sd DVD of Reservoir Dogs. Trust me, as a die hard fan of the film, you owe it yourself to pick this up. Lionsgate has done a great job with this release.

I have had it on VHS, Laserdisc, 2 versions on DVD and now on Blu-Ray. Now I am waiting on pulp fiction. I have a pretty decent region0 one from Korea that came out just before the current release and at the time was the only anamorphic version available and is almost identical to the current US release.

I can hoenstly say it's a HUGE upgrade. The Blu-Ray version looks considerably better and the colors are far more accurate. And dopn't forget that rockin' soundtrack is in DTS-HD.

Without a doubt!!!

I can only compare it to the 10th anniversary SD-DVD, but it's 100 times better than that debacle. I was pretty hard on the Blu-ray transfer at first, but watching it again a few times, most of it looks really nice. It's inconsistent at times, but that's likely due to the source material since it was a very low budget film. I'd give it a low Tier 2 rating.

Now Pulp Fiction is what I'm dying to see on Blu-ray. They've been running it in HD on Showtime recently and it looks sweet!

For the kind of movie it is, I'd almost say no..

I rented it on Netflix and it by no way made me enjoy the movie anymore then I had in the past (I love this movie).

If you have a stiffy for buying every version of a flick that comes out -- by all means..

I upgraded to the Blu-Ray last week - and have no regrets whatsoever. It's a really nice transfer.

Is the audio fixed on the BD? (the DVD had a couple missing lines of dialogue)

Which lines? I didn't notice any missing lines on any version of the DVD.

yes, the new version actually has all the lines in it, the new SDVD version is actually quite an improvement over the old one, and of course the BD is better in terms of PQ..but blah, I wouldn't spend a lot on it considering it's barebone and that the SDVD actually has decent picture with extras..

I am buying it, already have SD but I figure I should be rewarding the companies for releasing movies that I think should be released on BD.

The "10th Anniversary Edition" DVD had a lousy video transfer and was missing a couple lines of dialogue. The recent "15th Anniversary Edition" DVD corrected both problems. The Blu-ray comes from the same master as the 15th Anniversary DVD.

I knew about the sub-standard transfer on the 10th Anniversary Edition (I have the Mr. Blonde version) but I was unaware of the missing lines. Is there a website that details which lines are missing? I love the movie and would love to have examples so I can go back and check it out myself (can you tell I have no life?)

here are the cuts,

R1 SE America - (Artisan - 10th Anniversary Edition) - No Censor Cuts, but this release IS missing some dialogue bits. The missing bits and exact times are as follows:
-0:28:32 MR. WHITE: "I think he just passed out."
(-0:38:23 MR. BLONDE: "Joe" => This line is NOT missing, but is a very quiet mumble.)
(-0:51:33 MARVIN NASH: "I haven't been looking." => This line is NOT missing, but is a very quiet mumble.) / MR. PINK "Shut the..." => There has been no evidence that this line was ever said, so this one is unconfirmed.

Cool. Thanks. I'll have to check that out. You'd think more care would be shown to a 10th Anniversary release, but that's obviously not always the case.

I guess I wasn't paying attention, I didn't know that the 15th anniversary edition had fixed the problem. At any rate, I'm going to skip over that one and upgrade to the BD version. :)

Well I picked up the BD and watched it over the weekend, and was very happy to see that it looks as good as everyone says it does. I must have seen this film about 12-15 times over the years, so I'm very familiar with it, and I honestly can't imagine it looking much better than it does here. Great job, Lionsgate. This really makes up for the 10th Anniversary DVD that I was so disappointed with (but am still keeping for the extras).
