View Full Version : Problems with TX-P2670WH (samsung)
Ive had my tv for some time now, had some problems with it, but noting major, untill now. It seems to turn off a couple minutes after turning on, then wont power on for a few hours, and repeats. Ive been able to use it once while it seemed to fail to shut off, and saw the flash turn into the line in the center (the light that appears when you turn off) twice, then stayed on untill I turned it off that night. ANy ideas on what I can do, should be out of warrenty.
The minor problems: the screen would shake a little for a second every 30min or so.
Major: powers off.
So I have the same set and it has been doing the same thing. While watching it all of the sudden it goes black. It won't turn on again. When the power button is pushed it makes the little chime but no picture. I unplugged it for about 10 min and then it worked again only to go black after about 5-10 min of use. Is this something simple to fix or am I better off getting a new set?

So Sears said it was a cracked PCB board and they also said it wasn't available anymore. Is there a place to buy these?
STEVE050 10-25-07, 10:54 PM Both the main board and the power supply board are no longer available.
So is the TV now junk and should I start looking for a new one?
It seems that a $700 TV would last longer than 2 yrs. Maybe a LCD will be a better buy.
STEVE050 10-27-07, 06:09 PM I really think it's a matter of luck, as to if your TV will ever break, say in 10 years. There are some productions that come up with a high number of a certain problem, but nothing like 20% of that model produced. And a cracked circuit board is not a defect; it's an accident.
Not likely you can save your TX-P2670 , unless you know someone willing to spend some free time to evaluate it deeper.
Good Luck!
Thunder18 10-29-07, 02:45 AM I have a TX-P2675WH and had the circuit board replaced under warranty about 8 or 9 months after buying the TV. The funny thing is the replacement board was cracked when the repairman brought it to the house. He had to come back again a couple weeks later with another replacement.
POWERFUL 10-29-07, 05:43 AM That's ridiculous. I have this OP exact set, and so far fingers crossed 18 months in, no problems.
What are my chances of finding a board on the internet? Is it worth even trying or should I just let Sears dispose of the TV? Would a board from a different Samsung CRT work? Maybe one with a HDMI input on it?

In my case, it was a power surge that blew up the original board, but still, it's pretty crappy that the 1st replacement board was cracked. Oh, here's another fine how do you do. Samsung re-engineered the board and took the QAM tuner out so my replacement no longer has a QAM tuner even though my manual says there should be one.
WJonathan 11-07-07, 08:59 AM Wha??? Sounds more to me like somebody installed the wrong board.
Thunder18 11-26-07, 02:06 AM Nope, I actually got into a long protracted discussion with Samsung regarding the matter and after doing some searching online, it turns out the QAM tuner did not work satisfactorily for enough people so they stopped including it. I have a stupid 5 year warranty on the unit so I really want it to break and be unrepairable then I can use $600 for something else.
POWERFUL 11-26-07, 11:45 AM Hey I only paid 300 plus tax for mine you totally got ripped off. QAM tuner aside it's really not a bad set. If the QAM is a big deal for you go with set top box.
Thunder18 11-26-07, 10:50 PM 2.5 years ago, you could not get that TV new for $300. Anyway, I knew it had a QAM tuner and it worked the couple times I tried to use it, then I got an HD cable box and didn't realy need that function anymore. Now, I'd like to stop paying for a cable box or at least have the choice to not use one. My manual specifically states that my TV has a QAM tuner, then again, it also says in fine print that the manufacturers specifications are subject to change. I just think it's pretty dirty to remove the QAM tuner and not tell the user before you do it.
POWERFUL 11-27-07, 01:24 AM Look on ebay for a ATSC/QAM set top box and hook it up to the set then kiss the cable box goodbye. Also I brought my set 18 months ago brand new, at Best Buy.
Does anyone know the part number for the PCB/power supply board?
