Hey guy's, i have a problem with my subwoofer that i never notice befor.
Untill today when i was watching a dvd movie call stealth. in Dts 5.1 surround mode.
ok here is the problem.
In some parts of the movie when there lots of bass going and bombs going off. i hear a rattle coming from some were. first i thought it was the walls and the doors.
but i listen again and i trace it down, and the rattle was coming from my subwoofer.?
is this a bad thing? its a yamaha yst-215 sub. i have it setup between the speaker and the tv stand. but its not very close to any of them. i do have the rubber pads on the bottom of the sub that came with it. i hope my sub isn't going out. is there any way i can fix this rattle noise from sub woofer?

do you still hear the rattle if you lower the volume?

Try replaying the scene with the volume lower either and see if it still occurs. If it does not at lower volumes then it sounds as though you are bottoming out the sub. You should turn the sub level down at either the sub or from the the receiver. If it still occurs at lower volume settings then you may have damaged your sub.
How high is the volume on the sub and how high is the sub out level on the receiver? At what levels do you listen to music/movies?

hey guys, sorry for the slow response. i did lower down the volume in that same scene. but it doesn't rattle as much when i had the volume turn down. the volume on the sub is half way towards 1 o clock position. on the receiver its turn up to 6db +

6db on the receiver is too high. Try with -5db on receiver with sub gain at 1/3rd.

Increase Master volume I think it won't rattle.

Make sure all screws are tight, if so it is possible the cone is hitting the leads (inside wires).
