Disney is really going for the jugular aren't they? and making me broke at the same time. I never saw the movie, but the previews and Disney's recent track record for HD releases make me want to pick this one up.

I just gota ask, (given your handle) are you by any chance from Severna Park, Md. ?......just down the road from the Naval Academy.

I disagree with your assesment of the movie but, alas, it's all really just personal taste...........like different flavors of yogurt or ice cream. So to each his own. :)

I posted a tidbit about Apocalypto, here………..

yes, you heard it right, i thought it was boring. a little action, but still i was expecting more than just a guy going after his family stuck in a hole.............while it might look great in high definition, its still a lowsy movie to me, and i dont buy movies for picture quality alone. but its great that we all have different opinions so to each his own. as long as some people enjoy it thats all that matters.

and im from indiana.

Isn't the sd version scheduled for late march (3/27 I think)? I thought Buena Vista was good at this day-and-date stuff. This better mean some good extra hd bonuses. Java content like Pirates?

NM, sd is scheduled for 5/22 as well...java would still be nice though...

I'm betting Buena Vista is going to shuffle their schedule around a bit. Apocalypto and both Pirates movies on May 22, then just two weeks later Cars, The Rock, Crimson Tide, & Con Air...seems like an awful lot in a short period of time.

I say bring it on, but I wouldnt be surprised if a few of those Bruckheimer movies get shuffled to later in the Summer, like late July or August.

Would be nice if they could shuftle some of them SOONER to early spring. April would be great...

This was hands down the best movie I saw in the theater last year. The picture was unbelievable. I believe it was shot with HD cameras. God I love Blu ray

I liked this movie. I would say not just for the story line but mainly for the young actors who played their parts so well. There are also many people of Mayan descent that are in this movie for the first time and they do a damn good job.

It should look fantastic in HD.

You mean J.J.’s camera, just down the street from me in Lake Forest ?
Talk about a camera nut  , wow, he’s owns something like 1000 (yes, 3 zeros) cameras.

I think that it will be primarily used by lower budget productions compared to the major studios at least until it shows what it’s capable of. If Oakley can deliver on the goods (specs.) they could well end up owning that part of the D cinema camera market and even give the big boys i.e. the Genesis, Dalsa, etc. a run for their money.

The indie people seem to be quite excited about the RED uno – there’s a cult-like following on the internet with it like with Snakes on A Plane.

One disadvantage it has compared to the Genesis is its lack of onboard tape recording option but, of course they’re no where near the same price point.

I see our paths recently crossed. :)

You must write less aggressively and less inflammatory than I do, as when you “challenge the information” on Insider’s, your posts remain…… and some of mine end up going to the AVS forum outtake vault. :(

Oh well, if only one person gets to read them before they get the ax, I will consider due process served, i.e. not half-truths or fictional narrations but the whole truth. :)

Now, I’ve got to initiate a post on the Blu-ray players forum, so it may be worth your while to take a look-see. ;)

Too bad he boiled down such an interesting and misunderstood culture to a standard "chase" movie cliche with lots of Mel "buckets 'o' blood" Gibson's unsubtle directing style.

Yeah, I liked Braveheart for what it was, an action film (don't take it as a straight period drama or you'll laugh yourself silly). However, this was supposed to be billed as something much more special.
