I was lucky to find a brand-new (sealed) copy of Blood, Sweat & Tears' debut album "Blood, Sweat & Tears" on SACD (stereo) the other day. Man what a beautiful recording. I grew up listening to this as an 11 or 12 year-old kid, while on long driving trips with my dad, in the back-seat, on 8-track! This re-mix is absolutely wonderfully clean, pretty good balance and sound-stage (although it varies on each song). Moreover, the added "live" bonus tracks are epsecially good for a live recording.

For this SACD, I'll be willing to sit down and listen to the entire album. Where did you get it? Is it hybrid?

Yes, this is a fine album, one of my favorites back then.

It's not BS&T's first album, though. Child is Father to the Man was the first, before David Clayton Thomas, led by Al Kooper. Great album, not yet released on SA-CD, even though it has been mixed and mastered.

Too bad the BS&T is not MultiChannel.

It's really impressive the kind of music that was produced back then (Carol King, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Fraklin, and many more).

I've been on the "hunt" lately, trying to aquire as many SACD's or DVD-A's I can get (esepcially that I like). Now that world-famous Tower Records is history I've had to find other sources, it's scary actually. The main Tower Records, HollyWood (on Sunset blvd.), was the best store there was, you could find the best selection of hi-resolution disc's. And they could quickly order anything that existed.

However, now I've just discovered Ameoba Music, HollyWood (on Sunset blvd as well), they have quite a selection of SACD's and DVD-A's- new and used. Although the last few times I've been in there it seems to be dwindling.

If I'm correct it seems like SACD and DVD-A inventories are dwindling everywhere, all of a sudden? It was only a year ago this time that I really started buying these formats. My local BestBuy had a decent selection, and I purchased quite a number from there. Now I don't notice any (maybe 5 or 6 total). I'm thinking this is partly due to the retialers not ordering more stock. But, I think, moreso because more people have capable "universal" players and systems- because of the growth of home theater surround systems in the everyday house-hold.

I got BS&T Masterpiece CD and really liked it. And talking about Carole King, I picked up Tapestry SACD from Music Trader (used) and really liked it too.

All Sony single-layer (non hybrid) SACD titles are considered out of print. Yes, there're still copies around, but once they are gone....they are gone.

John Denver's "Greatest Hits - Live" SACD is awesome sounding as well.

A ton of the Sony single-layers are outstanding. Many are still available from different outlets, so snap them up before they're gone. BS&T, Tapestry, Billy Joel's The Stranger and 52nd Street, James Taylor Hourglass, Aerosmith Toys In The Attic, Thriller, Time Out, Kind of Blue, Mingus Ah Um, etc. Lot's of really great ones, many of them multichannel.
