I can't seem to get external speakers to work on my old Misubishi 35" CRT TV. Here's my setup --

CK35FX2 35" CRT Mitsubishi TV. Works great.
Comcast STD Video cable box. Works perfectly.

The TV has the following A/V connectors:

Video: S-Video and RCA jacks. All of the video signals are working fine

Audio:

TV: Audio Input: 2 sets of RCA jacks (Red and White). One set here is connected to the comcast Audio Out connectors. Audio thru the TV speakers is working fine.

Audio Out: 2 sets of RCA jacks (Red and White). I connect one set of these RCA jacks to the external speakers and get nothing.

There is also a Sub Woofer Out Mono connector. Also a Tuner and Monitor RCA jack.

The speakers are known good (work on my stereo). I also tried a different set of speakers and get same results....no sound.
The TV has a TV speakers menu setting and when I turn the TV speaker setting to "off", I get no sound from the internal speakers and no sound from external speakers.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Any ideas?

PS: The comcast Audio out (RCA jacks) connects to the Audio In (RCA jacks) on the TV. Works fine. Also, when I connect the audio out from the comcast box directly to the known good speakers, I get nothing. I have tried two different sets of speakers...same results. No sound.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Mike

We have the same tv as you. Also have Comcast box. This has always worked for us:

TV Audio Out:RCA jacks to stereo receiver AUX input left and right
Set receiver on AUX and you should then get sound through the stereo speakers
You should then get sound through both tv speakers and stereo speakers

We dont use the Comcast box for audio.

You may have already tried this set up, if not this may work for you.
Good luck
