View Full Version : Stupid Question? Jim Parys 03-02-07, 01:28 AM Given that technology has advanced (?) over time, what projector would provide the best image 9500LC w/new tubes a Ruby or RS-1? ChrisWiggles 03-02-07, 01:47 AM I think a great deal of the answer to that question depends on viewer preferences, along with room settings like screen size, light control, viewing habits etc. I think in this forum you'll have a lot of people say the 9500LC or a similar 9-incher will throw the best picture, and I wouldn't disagree, but I think there are a fair number of asterisks that go with that, such as a light controlled room, a moderate screen size, viewer preferences that go most heavily with watching film (rather than a lot of TV or sports or such), a high value placed on on/off CR performance, things like that. And of course, a contrary response would carry with it its own set of asterisks and qualifiers. So basically, what I'm saying is that you could get answers every which way to this question that disagree with each other but that all would be correct because people may approach the question with slightly different preferences and needs, and these differences are significant among displays that are all going to be pretty excellent generally speaking. jtnfoley 03-02-07, 07:12 AM Kudos to Chris for a reasoned and eloquent response. Now lets see how this question can make a thread turn stupid, and how fast. :D :p :D Soapsuds 03-02-07, 06:28 PM Hopefully you can audition these units at a members HT. IMO, that is the best way to tell what your eyes like.... I believe those units are at the top of the consumer heap....so just go with what you like. Curt Palme 03-02-07, 08:24 PM Chris and jtn I believe have set a new standard of the best responses in perfect sequence here on the whole avsforum that I think I've ever seen...:) ChrisWiggles 03-02-07, 09:34 PM Chris and jtn I believe have set a new standard of the best responses in perfect sequence here on the whole avsforum that I think I've ever seen...:) I was just practicing my politician response. :D ;) "ahem, well, it depends. Things are complex. Perspectives differ. This is an important issue." :p nashou66 03-02-07, 10:06 PM Sounds like a democrat. Athansios ChrisWiggles 03-02-07, 10:12 PM Well, if I were practicing my republican response it might sound like: GO DIGITAL. It's the future, it's far more economically efficient, and technology is the panacea. Technology and spending cures all. Used CRTs embraces RECYCLING and REUSING things. Screw that. Consumption drives economic growth. buy new, buy more, buy lots of bulbs, buy buy buy! :p |
