It gladdens my heart to see the HD-DVD supporters foaming at the mouth over RUMORS of catalog releases while we get exact street dates for CURRENT and recent movies!!!!

That's a good point...everyone points to Sony as the main protagonist, but from their release schedule and aggressiveness, it looks like it's Disney that's on the warpath and out for blood....

This is really cool to get these new titles in such a short time. Hopefully we will also get Borat soon.

Thats cool. Haven't seen the movie yet so i'll definitely have to add that to my BB when its available. When i first read the thread title I though it was "Queen", as in the band, on blu-ray !

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Of all the players in the HD landscape right now, Disney is impressing me the most. They've been incredibly aggessive both in their release slates and maximum usage of the Blu-ray technical superiority and the newest codecs, surprisingly even more so than Sony.

This is a definite purchase for me.

Not exactly my cup of tea (pardon the pun), but I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy this, especially with the Oscar recognition.

This movie was released in September of last year, so I wouldn't exactly call it "fast." However, it started in limited release and built up buzz as positive critical reviews came in.

Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to buying this.

The movie was only given a wide release in January.

The movie was very good, but I don't see me revisiting it over and over again. So, for me, it's not a buy.

James Cromwell was hilarious, though. I don't think he was meant to be, but I found his character great.

I won't say why I thought so for the sake of others who haven't seen the movie yet.

Haven't seen the movie, but Helen Mirren is an awesome actress. She is brilliant of course in the Prime Suspects and Elizabeth was a very good historical drama. So I would expect The Queen to be a worthwhile buy for those who like the genre.

It's a buy for me.

I am going to go format neutral soon, but The Queen would be one of the last titles I would purchace on any format.

I really enjoyed Mirren's performance in this movie but like Monster (the movie that won Charlize Theron her Best Actress Oscar), I felt this movie came off a little too much like a TV movie of the week. Not sure if I'd buy it but I definitely would at least give it a rent considering some of the interior palace scenes as well as some of the scenic panoramic views of her ranch. Should look really good coming from BV.

Quick edit: Why is it everyone seems so surprised at how fast these movies are coming to DVD nowadays. It seems most movies are coming to DVD about 4 months after theatrical release (in this case, wide threatrical release), I think we can stop being surprised, no?

Mirren is a dreamboat

I'd hit it.

Haven't seen The Queen yet. She was oh so fiesty in Elizabeth just like a red head is supposed to be.

I ignored his comment. Maybe the poster prefers higher brow content like Debbie Does Bubba ;)

To each his own. (sigh)

Mirren is top-notch.
