View Full Version : Component->Component, HD->480i Downconverters?

I have a Toshiba 42" WS CRT RPT that I have moved to my master bedroom. It still looks GREAT playing 480i DVDs (it was the model year before they added progressive) over the component hook up.

I get Digital Cable service from Time Warner, and it does not cost anymore to swap out the cable box for the HD version. So what I want to do is downconvert the component HD signals from the cable box to 480i component for my TV. The only products I can find for this look like the exact same box from two different companies, and the price is around $500.

One is the AA 1361 from Audio Authority and the other is the AVT-3190 from AV Toolbox (sorry, because this is my first post, I am not allowed to post URLs yet. You would think they would turn that off for GOLD LIFETIME CLUB MEMBERS. <wink>).

They would both do the job, but the price is a bit steep for what I want to do. I don't need the HD pass-thru that these offer, and I only need component ins/outs. So does anyone know of a good, cheaper "one-trick-pony" that would fit my needs?

Thanks is advance!
