View Full Version : HELP! vga drastically off center
Charlie97L 03-02-07, 06:27 PM hey guys, i just picked up a MS vga cable for the 360.
i hooked it up, set the resolution on the 360 to 1280x720 through the VGA/PC input on my panasonic ae900u projector, and the image is drastically off center, and the right has a black bar on it, despite my PJ load screen being pefectly centered, and the PJ having a native resolution of 720p. any help?
i really like the color and sharpness of the VGA vs component, but this off center crap just has me baffled.
Vidmaven 03-02-07, 06:38 PM I had the same thing happen with my Panny 42PWD7UY plasma.............I just chose different resolutions until I found the one that centered everything up and made the black bar on the right disappear. Picture looks sharp and dead on now.
Charlie97L 03-02-07, 06:44 PM i found a thread about it a while back... i can get it filled, but it goes back to XGA, not 720p, and stuff is stretched.
it mentioned i might need to initialize the pc input?
argh!
Charlie97L 03-02-07, 07:03 PM ok, i just did the "auto setup" for position on the PC input menu, and that fixed the text being off center in the projected image, but the image itself is still offcenter, and not filling up the screen.
thanks for the input anyone!!
GhostRecon3 03-02-07, 08:10 PM i just had the same problem on my Panny AX100U .. Any ideas anyone ?
Charlie97L 03-02-07, 08:22 PM i'm thinking it has to be a pj setting, because it's happening to panasonic stuff... and i've read many reviews of the vga with no issues on other brands.
LOVE the picture tho. dvds look so much better. once i calibrate the color tomorrow, wow.
I had this poblem with my sammy dlp.. It has a option in the tv settings to do a pc adjust screen. This worked for me.
Charlie97L 03-02-07, 09:49 PM hmm. i did the auto adjust, but it's not totally fixed.
pdawg17 03-02-07, 10:51 PM Do you guys have overscan adjustments in the menu? My Panny 9UK was off-center but I just "moved" the picture until it was lined up...
Charlie97L 03-02-07, 11:26 PM yeah... hmm, i'll try that. maybe it's like the old CRT monitor screen position adjustment controls.
joshuavern 03-04-07, 01:32 AM Yeah Charlie97L that's pretty much exactly what it's like. Had to do the same thing first time I hooked up vga with my LCDs.
Charlie97L 03-04-07, 08:11 AM ok well i have the lit area is centered on the PJ screen....
BUT, the image is still hiked to the left a bit, even though i've got it all the way to the right.
any ideas? will giong into the service menu help?
i also tweaked teh color, and MAN, the black levels are so much better. on LSW, darth vader's cape has 3-4 different black textures on it, as opposed to before.
I have a Panasonic 3LCD RPTV and the only way to fix it was to enter the service menu.
On my set in a "Service" menu labeled "Other" (there are 8 menus on mine) I had to adjust both:
OPT HPOSI
OPT VPOSI
I used AVIA's 16:9 Overscan Chart. OPT HPOSI had to be adjusted as high as possible, followed by final adjustments in the regular User Menu. On my set the settings in the Service Menu are Global to all Inputs and User Settings, so ALL inputs had to be adjusted in the User menus after I was done. OPT VPOSI only need minor changes.
I have to adjust and calibrate a friends AE900 one of these days as he is having the same problem. I know the 3LCD Projectors are more advanced than the 3LCD RPTV's, but I assume Panasonic's Service Menus have some of the same features as we all are having the same problem.
Charlie97L 03-04-07, 05:58 PM sweet thanks for teh tips man!
it's def watchable but before i go that drastic, i'm going to see about this possible new xbox that might be announced thsi week
