I bought Stanger Than Fiction tonight and it contained a plethora of new title trailers including the aforementioned Casino Royale, as well as The Holiday & The Pursuit of Happyness. Casino looked just simply amazing as I thought it would...maybe even better than I imagined. It is in MPEG2 and I know the movie will be AVC once it hits on 3-13....but get yourself ready for whats gonna sell ALOT of Blu-ray players kids. It looks that good!! Has anyone else seen this?

Havent seen the disc-version but saw a video from the Playstation Store in 1080p (Japanese store I believe?) and it looked great - Can't wait!

There was a brief glimps of PotC on the Prestige trailers. And what little they showed looked awesome.

That casino Royale trailor had my guests saying please plan on having them over to watch it in HD as soon as I get it! :eek:

When i was in The Sony Store a couple months back they had a HD preview loop of Casino Royale going on the tvs in store and it looked awsome. I can only imagine that the BD will improve upon that.

There was a quick PoTC shots on the Blu Trailer on the Open Season disk.

This is one of my issues somehow I always feel like the Trailers look better than the actual disc. Maybe it's just me.

Casino Royale pre-order is what pushed me over the edge into the blu-ray camp. I have CR on pre-order, and I bought a PS3 a few weeks ago along with 20+ other movies. Wow, am I looking forward to CR!

I thought Click looked mediocre at best in the trailer. The bit rate for Casino Royale hovers around the 23-28 mbps marker throughout. All of the trailers I have viewed with the PS3 have not had jacked up bit rates. 23-28 mbps is the normal range for alot of Sony's discs. Their BD-50's usually hover around the 28-34 mbps marker. Casion Royale is AVC on a BD-50 so it will deliver. Sony knows everyone is expecting a near reference transfer for this title.

Casino Royale was a strong selling point for me as well, although I didn't buy half as many movies as you did. I'm getting my PS3 on Friday, and will be buying CR at whatever retailer I can get it from on the 13th!

No one is denying that, but I think it's safe to say it's easy to make a 5 second clip look better than a full movie. To argue otherwise would be ignorant.

Oh trust me I am but it's always nice to have some great trailers like Casino Royale loaded on the HD for demo purposes.

Casino Royale... one of the first, if not best examples of how content will ultimately win this thing.

I hope the actual release looks a little better than the trailer. The opening B&W section had some problems.

I have my fingers crossed on this one, outside of Black Hawk Down Sony has yet to impress me with any of their transfers at all. That is why I am meh on stuff like Spiderman, Casino Royale, Prusuit of Happiness, etc, Sony is a constant dissapointment when it comes to encoding their own stuff so it actually looks good and IMO Fox, Disney, Warner, etc are clearly demonstrating a better handle on producing good BD material and providing a consistent PQ.

Actually I don't think a quick-cut trailer with many many fast scene changes is easy to encode at all.


I do video encoding as a side business. It's a piece of cake.

Well, I compared TEARS OF THE SUN to the high bitrate version that aired on STARZ a while back and the BD won, hands down. More detail, no compression problems. No contest, really. I think Sony is improving. What went wrong out the gate with the first 20+ titles is anyone's guess, but it is a shame so many damn fine films were among those releases. I didn't buy, thank God. Just rented.

I remember watching the HD trailer on my computer before seeing the movie...I was actually a little disappointed in the theater with the look compared to the HD trailer.

I recently bought an LCD HDTV and PS3 because of this blu-ray release.

I downloaded mine via the Japanese site.
It is still on the Japanese site. I saw it there last night for download.

How do u get to the japanese site from the ps3
