After research I am still undecided on what to use rg59....or rg6. If I use rg6 what kind of sheilding should it have? I have at least two runs this lenght so I am looking to buy bulk without connectors. Also at this lenght do I need some kind of componet video amplifier. All for HDTV / HDDVD. Reciver is a Sony STR-DG600 for now, running to a Samsung LCD

I had some trouble with coax cable (RG6). I'd check out monoprice.com to see if they have component in that length. I went with the stuff rated for in wall use. If they do, I doubt you would save that much in going with coax anyway.

Whether you use RGB mini, RG-59, or RG-6... use a serial/digital grade or precision video grade coax for these runs.

DO NOT use standard cable TV grade coax....

As I said in another thread:
All three cables should be made from the same reel of cable.
All three cables should be exactly the same length.
(and no, I don't know what exactly means. It could mean 1/2 inch or it could be 1 foot)
If you are buying bulk cable, get cable with heavy braid shielding, not foil or quad shielding.
But if you already have the cable, just use it.

Disregard this comment... just make sure that the cables are the same type.
If you want to make your cable out of individual lengths of red, green, and blue serial/digital, go ahead.

I was taught to keep the cables within 1/4", although some semi-tweaky forum types have deemed this to be irrelevant.

The guy who told me to shoot for 1/4 inch or less variance is also an engineer and was a consultant to multiple broadcast facilities through the HD changeover... you decide who's advice to follow...

Serial/Digital or precision video is the correct cable, CCTV grade coax is acceptable in a pinch, and cable TV grade coax (standard or quad shield) is the worst cable to use...

But if you already have the cable, just use it.
If you taking the time to pull these cables through walls in your home, do it right the first time...
