Has anyone used one of these (http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/diy_main/pg_diy.jsp?CNTTYPE=PROD_META&CNTKEY=misc%2fsearchResults.jsp&BV_SessionID=@@@@1397071592.1172946774@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdladdkfmehhjlcgelceffdfgidgki.0&MID=9876) before for fabric stapling, and making framed panels? How do they compare to the pneumatic staplers/nailers? Seems like an extremely cost efficient solution. The pneumatics are all around $200+ from what I've seen.

Electric staplers are fine if going into soft wood such as pine. You need pneumatic if doing anything heavier. Pneumatics can be had from HD for around $70 as a kit that also includes the compressor. It contains a combination nailer/stapler.
I found electric/manual staplers of little value. They just can't put a staple in reliably - even in softwoods. For $150 you can get a very good portable compressor and stapler from Sears.

I am right now in the phase of building my fabric frames - did 3,000 staples with manual staple machine and 7,000 with electric stapler (Bosch) up to now. The electric stapler works like a charm - using quite soft pine/spruce wood though!

I tossed my electric stapler, bought a porter cable pneumatic and never looked back. I use them mostly for stretching canvas over frames for art - though I have reupholstered a few dozen chairs.
