We’re building a new home on a lot with a 250° view. While I can’t do the whole media theater I would like to build the best of both – a family room with a wonderful view and a large plasma screen.
Now my question – Has anyone used smart windows or privacy glass or electric glass or?? Basically the window can be darkened or left clear depending on the need. Like this - http://www.sage-ec.com/index.html

Because my only other options are:
1.Blackout drapes
2.electric roll up shutters
3.Pella windows with built-in blinds
4.??

None of which work well with huge view windows.
Unless anyone has other options?

I would appreciate any help or suggestions,
Marjory

Try this...
www.auralex.com
www.acoustics101.com see chap.4 about windows
The room is going to be too "live" sounding with all of those windows(without treatments)
I know nothing about this co.,just found them on a link through this forum.

Well, I have gotten some estimates for the various types of glass
$125 - 200 a square FOOT = way out of my league... :(

So looks like I am back to drapes...

If you go with a projector and a screen, you can use a motorized screen that comes down when the projector comes on. That's only a few hundred if you do it the affordable way.
