View Full Version : Whats HBO's deal?
Hi All!
Im sure this was discussed before, but HBO has got some good stuff, any firm release dates?
I'm disapointed with the price of the Sopranos, not a good way to get the average consumer into Hi Def. My fiance will have a heart attack if she has to pay 100+ per season of Sex in the City.
Sex & the City was never aired or mastered in HD, so no worries about having to buy her that one.

Whew! :D
Slim GoodBooty 03-04-07, 08:48 PM Carnivale would rock, but it isn't gonna happen. :(

I work in Hollywood and I am constantly surprised how short sited some producers are. It seams like a no-brainer to produce everything in the last few years in HD to be ready when HD becomes the norm. It may still take a few years for the average person to be able to watch HD disks, but at least the material would be ready. Standard def shows are going to seem so dated in a couple of years. At least Deadwood, Big Love, and Rome were done in HD.

Needless to say, I want PCM goodness I can get from my PS3 to Denon. :D
randosel 03-05-07, 01:30 AM I would like to see some older HBO products like Tales from the Crypt, Arli$$ and Oz. Larry sanders as well but that would be tough because it was film and video, along with hbo and not wanting to releases season sets on standard dvd.

Larry Sanders is owned by Sony.

So Sony owns some of the New Line titles as well?

Larry Sanders was never a New Line title. The show may have aired on HBO, but it was produced by Columbia TriStar (Sony).
By the same token a show like House may air on the Fox network, but it's produced by Universal. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a Fox production that aired alternately on networks owned by Warner Bros. and UPN. This sort of thing happens all the time in TV production.
randosel 03-05-07, 06:28 PM I always get confused between distribution of Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures, Samual Goldwin, Sony Classics, Savoy Pictures, HBO Video, Warner. Along with other older companies like New World Pictures, Orion, Orion Classics. Older distributors Veston Video, Image Entertainment confuse me even more... specifically if the companies distributors licence from no longer exist. Gramercy, October Films, Goodmachine, and USA Films I remember as Focus Features. But not all of them are Universal releases.
jefe noche 03-05-07, 11:43 PM I MUST have the first seasons of Deadwood, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under.....Band of Brothers and From the Earth to the Moon.
