Its been going slow due to family and work obligations but its been fun so far. BIGmouthinDC 03-05-07, 08:55 AM Getting drywall up there isn't going to easy. I see a 1/2 sheet of plywood on the stage but does a 4x8 fit up the stairs? attichometheater 03-05-07, 09:17 AM I have to take the door off the bathroom at the bottom of the stairs to just fit a full sheet. I think Im going to cut as much as possible outside were a full sheet is not needed. BIGmouthinDC 03-05-07, 12:15 PM A couple of these might be useful. I found that sometimes your arms just aren't quite long enough to grab and carry the sheets. Going up stairs is a PITA. A couple years back I redid a beach condo bathroom that was up 3 flights of stairs. I cut all the sheets in my pick-up as I needed them. Carried up myself with one of these. http://www.toolshopdirect.co.uk/handtool/full/23694.jpg AngelaC 03-05-07, 12:41 PM Do you have any concepts or any existing design ideas for your theater? attichometheater 03-05-07, 01:12 PM Thanks bigmouthindc I will check that out. It Looks handy. AngelaC, yes I have a design plan for my theater. Thanks attichometheater 05-24-07, 07:03 AM Ive started making some head way on my project. For the last few months not much work has been competed due to my work schedule and the kids sports. I started the wiring for my 3104 grafik eye controller and wall station. Running the wires to the wall station at the bottom of the stairs has been a treat to say the least. After this weekends camping trip I should have some more time to finish all the wiring and start the drywall installation. rm1759 05-24-07, 08:59 AM it looks like there are some windows up there. any of them big enough to get drywall through if you took them out? if so, you can normally get the drywall company to deliver them through the window and into the room for you... Are you going to run a seperate HVAC unit? I am building my theater in my attic as well and am having issues with the AC... attichometheater 05-24-07, 10:38 AM No the windows are way to small and its 30ft up. I also had a/c issues, my whole house hvac is to small and to run duct work would be a huge undertaking. I purchased a carrier mini split ac/heat pump on line from airconditioner.com. The unit is an 18,600 btu and cost 654.00 with 170.00 shipping. Its not installed yet but should be more than enough for my room. farmer_joe 07-23-09, 12:43 PM Super cool idea, never thought about putting one in an attic. I live on a farm and am putting in a theater myself, maybe I'll post pics soon. Three cheers for the farm house home theater! jdholmes 07-23-09, 12:52 PM No the windows are way to small and its 30ft up. I had seen a couple people cut a small hole in the floor about four feet wide and rig up a system with 2x4's to lift the drywall through the floor. Thought it might be an idea for ya. attichometheater 07-24-09, 06:49 AM Thanks farmer Joe the room is almost complete. I made the mistake of hanging the projector before I finished the small details which stopped all progress. Ill post a couple of pictures soon. Three cheers for the farm house home theater! attichometheater 07-24-09, 06:52 AM I found a few pics of the drywall installed on my work computer. What a difference that made. jdholmes 07-24-09, 08:24 AM Dang - I didn't realize this was a two year old thread drudged up. Sorry for the late (and useless) suggestion. ;) attichometheater 07-24-09, 08:56 PM Ha Ha that pretty funny. No problem! To be honest with you I didnt realize it was that long ago. That kind of suck because I still have to put a plate on the knee wall and re install the 4 movie seats. Man Im a slacker. Like I said I should never have installed the projector before it was done. lol attichometheater 07-26-09, 09:47 PM Here are a couple pictures of the almost finished project. farmer_joe 07-30-09, 02:04 PM Here are a couple pictures of the almost finished project. I love the new pictures, it looks like you are making tons of progress since I last saw where you were at. |
