Which one is the better scaler? I will be using it with a BG1209S mostly with 1080i filmbased material. Are they about the same price? I have seen the HDP for around $1000 or a little less.

I have both. The Lumagen has a better reputation and much better support. But the Leeza does a fine job.

I swapped between the two several times... the Leeza has SDI input, but I didn't get that option on my HDP. But I hardly ever watch DVDs any more... when I do, I use 480i out of the Toshiba HDA1 HDDVD player, so I don't even use my Panasonic SDI player anymore.

The HDP is a great performer at under $1000 (the list price was recently dropped to $1199). Due to the better support and reputation, it should sell for more than a HD Leeza... which might fetch $700-$750.

What about the greyscale/gamma options of the Lumagen, plus it has transcoding...does the Leeza do any of that? If not, then the $250 premium is well worth it.

I have a HDP & the premium is well worth it just for the constant updates.

I`m offered a Leeza with a Panasonic RP56 SDI DVD-player for $1099. Not to bad, but I already have a Snazio DVD/mediaplayer. Will the RP56 with SDI be much better than the Snazio on DVD? Is it region free?
I had a look at the Leeza specification sheet, but it doesn`t say if it has IVTC of 1080i film based material?

Otherwise It has the inputs and outputs that I need. Does the necessary switching and transcoding. So far my sources are PC and the Snazio DVD/media player, but I`ll probably add BR sooner or later.
