Got the sammy 1080p 61 incher and when playing VGA at 1080p there is a 1/2 inch black bar on all 4 sides. This is unacceptable considering i paid for a 61 inch TV, is there a workaround or am i stuck with components?

Not sure which model you have .. if you're referring to the HLS (not sure if this would be the same for previous models), press the "p. Size" button on the remote and strech the picture to fill---just like a PC.

yea, its the HLS. Does stretching it distort hte picture like stretching regular cable to fit? Ill give it a try tomorrow. Thanks

OK since I had the same problem as you and others have had this problem before I will help you out :)

What you need to do is NOT stretch the picture out, but "adjust it" when you have the set on the "PC" mode and you hit the Blue "Pic Mode" button you will see adjustment selections much like a PC. The selection you want is the "all sides" adjustment. This will expand the picture without distorting it as a stretch mode would.

I am not sure if you have the 88 or not but if you do I would recomend setting the overscan to OFF you can check out the Samsung HLS thread over in the Rear Projection Forum for more info on it especially the TECH LINKS thread.... :) Hope this helps

Edit----seeing Delr's post I see now that he gave the correct information I just connect stretch with a different function then what is done with the VGA mode.
