Well, I just received my Harmony 550 remote and LOVE it. But there are some items that jsut bug me. Any AV question I have ever had has been answered here. So, before I call Logitech to school me, I will as you...

I have 3 activities that I want programmed - all work for the most part.

1- Watch PVR (which is technically Cable, but I cannot figure out how to change the name....I have a HD DVR Set Top Box. Can that name be changed as an activity???)

2- Watch DVD

3- Play Game.

I can click the remote and all goes well. But the TV never ever goes to the correct input. I have a Sammy HP-S4253 and I can actually tell it to change inputs via the menu OR just as easily, click the SOURCE (InputNext) button and it will go in order to the correct input.

For some reason, regardless if I set it up to do the 3 button click to bring up menu, scroll to input, and hit enter method or just click the source input - it never goes there.

I am always having to adjust the HELP menu until it fixes the problem. I figure once I do this, it would learn how to do it.

But in further testing, it looks like that is not the answer - it keeps making the same error on Input select.

Do any of you have this TV and can you let me know what you set up?

As a side bar - can this Harmony remote be programmed to adjust the DNI (on off), put on the WHITE screen, and adjust the calibration settings (color/contrast/etc).

Let me know.

Everything else works like a damned champ and I have you guys to thank for the great suggestion.

Select Device mode for the TV and try any Input commands listed. Hopefully you should find discrete(direct selection) commands for all your inputs. If you do, go to "Adjust Inputs" and select "I go directly to the input I want" and give it the discrete commands you just found.

If you can't find discretes, you'll probably need to increase the Input Delay for the TV.

Also, under "Activity options" you'll find an option to change the activity name.

OK, got the easy part taken care of - I renamed the activity name.

But There are 21 pages of options - are those the discrete (direct selection) items?

I'll give it a whirl, but I was hoping that it would go right to the correct input mode. It seems to go to the correct spot when I turn the TV ON initially. But going from Xbox to DVD, etc, and BACK to TV, it does not work.

I go directly to the input I want"

I don't have that option....I have the following:

Method 1: Select this method if there is only one source input button on the remote, and each time the button is pushed the next input label is cycled to in a set order.

Method 2: Select this method if the remote has labeled buttons like VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2, and each button displays a unique source input label on the screen.

Method 3: Select this method if your TV is a Samsung, or if you press a button to bring up an on-screen menu of source inputs, press a different button to cycle between them, and press a third button to accept the selection.

Method 4: Select this method if your TV is a Toshiba, or if you press a button to bring up a source input, and press other buttons that select their own input (no cycling).

technically, I can do method 1 & 3, and I tried both, and it does not pick up the settings.

Method 2 is the one you should try. The new Samsung TVs should have discrete inputs.

you mean 3?

Tried it. No go. I did see that I have a mystery input on my TV.

in order....
HDMI1 for Cable
Cable 3 for a blank blue screen. No idea why this is here.
Component1 for DVD
Component2 for Xbox

I verified that said blue Cable 3 input is DISABLED in the remote window. Anyone have any clue what that is???? I don't have anything extra hooked up. Just those items up there.

Maybe that is what is preventing it from scrolling one source to the other? I don't know. I can't figure it out.

When you select device mode for the TV, do you have commands such as "InputComponent1", "InputHDMI1" etc... These are discretes, and should go directly to the input without scrolling, menus etc. These commands can exist even if they are not on your original remote.

If you have such commands, then select Method 2

It will ask for the command to go to each input...give it the appropriate "Inputxxxx" command for each input.

Also, edit the list of inputs so it matches EXACTLY what your TV actually has, in order.

Also, what is the exact model of your TV?

The great Logitech customer support helped me out, it works like a charm. A bit on the laggy side, but thats minor. Everything works.
