I have a two year old Hitachi 57F510, which I love, that is coming out of warranty. I can extend it for this price:
1 year: $255.45
2 year: $407.03
3 year: $572.39
I bought it at Circuit City, and this would be through the CC Advantage Plan. Did anyone ever deal with this plan before, did you like it?
I guess I'm only worried about a lamp going south. Can I have some opinions on if I should renew with one of these plans or not?
Thanks.

IMO, those seem pretty expensive.
Can you replace the lamp yourself if it dies? If so, compare the price of the lamp with the price of the EW. If the lamp is cheaper (which I suspect it will be, compared to the 1 year price), then don't get the EW.

I've never attempted anything inside of a TV, although I am good with computers and the like.
I'd say I would be willing to try if it is not extremely difficult.
Ha, that sounds like a no doesn't it.

Nah, I'm not talking surgery here. What I mean is that most RPTV bulbs are easy enough for the consumer to pop open the back and replace the bulb. You know, buy a bulb and replace it—not have a service tech come out and do it. I know that Samsungs and Sonys are easy enough to do.
Great if you want to make donations to BIG BOX stores. Those rates are absurd

Guys this is a CRT rear projection tv. It is not a micro display rear projection with a bulb. I do not know what the cost for crt replacement is, but I do know that it is high and not a do it your self job. I would sugest getting on some of the threads that talk about crt projection sets.

Ah, didn't know this was a CRT. Disregard my comments. :)
