View Full Version : Knights of the Old Republic III!!!
WilliamR 03-06-07, 01:18 PM In the latest xbox magazine, they have rumors and stuff. In the back of the book they list the top 5 things studios are keeping from us. One they say points to Knights of the Old Republic III being developed by Bioware. They said the Jade Empire team at Bioware is extremely quiet and their next project is very secretative. They said they would not announce KOTR III because it would overshaow their huge project, Mass Effect, so they are waiting.
I know its only rumors and speculation, but if it is true, that is the single most awaited game on the 360 for me. Man, KOTR in HD and next generation graphics. Goose bumps ensue!!!
GrooveRite 03-06-07, 01:22 PM I LOVEDD KOTR 2 so this would definitely catch my interest! Its the only Stars Wars game I ever got into aswell. KOTR3 in HD will be amazing!!
The Batman 03-06-07, 01:24 PM Don't do this to me. Why would you do this to me?
I had just come to terms with the fact that KOTOR III wasn't going to happen. Now you've gone and rustled up all these emotions again and damn it, I'm at work.
MisterNJ 03-06-07, 01:39 PM The only way I would buy the 3rd one is if they moved away from turn based gameplay--I don't like it. The force unleashed looks like it has potential.
The Batman 03-06-07, 01:39 PM FYI, there's some discussion about this on the XBox forums. As usual, some choose to believe the rumor, some choose to doubt until proven by way of official announcement. I have no idea one way or another if any of it is true, and the emotional rollercoaster is killing me.

how could they not make a KOTOR3? 1 rocked, 2 kinda-rocked and Jade Empire also rocked. combine them together, add some Mass Effect elements, mix with Xbox 360 know-how, spice it up with Xbox Live and you get one tasty dish! I wouldn't expect any anouncements regarding KOTOR3 till at least after Mass Effect releases. Maybe about July or August, then a possible release not earlier than Jan./Feb. 2008. They can't really compete for an audience against Halo 3.
I am sure there will be a KOTOR 3, but I think it will probably be cross platform. Lucas Arts made a ton of money on both of those games.
sbarrier 03-06-07, 08:57 PM Where do I sign up? I'll take 2!!
metalsaber 03-06-07, 09:06 PM I would buy KOTOR III for sure. I'm a big Star Wars fan.
M'eh. Star Wars: Force Unleashed is going to kick it's butt. Who doesn't want to pick up a stromtrooper with the force and slam him into the ground 5 or 6 times?
formulanerd 03-07-07, 04:19 AM i dont really like star wars, but loved kotor 1&2, other star wars games are so-so, but i'd definitely buy kotor3 and force unleashed.
As much as I'd want them to do the game, it seems like just a rumor. They wanted to go to their own Intellectual Property ( Mass Effect), so why would they do Kotor III? That being said, I'd pre-order Kotor 3 right now.

if i remember correctly, you can "turn off" the turn-based gameplay. personally, i prefer the turn-based gameplay and the reason why i loved the KOTOR series so much. turn-based gameplay injects strategy & thinking into the experience, instead of just a button-mashing extravaganza. i miss the d&d PC games from long ago. it allowed you to control up to 5 different characters and you were able to control each one accordingly with each battle.
i liked the concept of marvel: ultimate alliance but don't like the gameplay experience. after a couple of button presses, your hero is either dying or enemies are already dead and i have no idea what just happened... maybe i'm just slow...
dlconner 03-07-07, 02:07 PM I played the first, but not the second yet. One of these days I will get around to it...hopefully before part 3 comes out lol.
I hope it isn't rushed like 2 was. 2 was a big disappointment in many ways.
benjamin-benjami 03-07-07, 03:00 PM Is KOTOR backwards compabitable on 360??
HangEmHi 03-07-07, 03:42 PM Is KOTOR backwards compabitable on 360??
Yes (and I personally verified this, it's one of the few Xbox titles I kept)!
As much as I want KOTOR3, I want Mass Effect, already ! :D
The Keither 03-08-07, 12:26 PM Something to remember, my friends.
Bioware did KOTOR I, while KOTOR 2 was farmed out to Obsidian, using the KOTOR engine. Also Obsidian did not have enough time to finish KOTOR 2 properly due to Lucasarts insistence that it be released on a certain date to coincide with something else (be it a movie release or DVD release).
Obsidian has said all along that they would be more than happy to do KOTOR 3, but at the moment they were tied up working on another project (whose name escapes me). So I'd say its highly likely it happens but not until 2008/2009.
There's my 2 cents....

According to the rumor mole in Xbox magazine, the third installment is back in Bioware's hands and they don't want to announce anything yet so the focus stays on Mass Effect. They want all the hype for that game. Once released, they said expect to hear something about KOTOR 3.
As much as i'd like Kotor III, Mass Effect should suffice, I'd rather see a next-gen X-Wing :)

Oh my. That would be most excellent, if true.
MadEyeB 03-08-07, 03:23 PM Bioware is working on an unnamed MMO, just saying. MMO+KotOR=?
thejokell 03-08-07, 03:46 PM MMO+KotOR=?
teh suck. I don't want a monthly fee to play a video game, especially if they're still gonna charge me $60 up front.
As long as KotOR III sticks to the familiar formula I'll be looking forward to it, though. ;)
lacombo 03-08-07, 05:57 PM I'm sure if theyare doing it it will be announced after Mass Effect is released. so most likely look for something at next yrs shows and a game by 09.
The 1st 2 were def fun to play through as was JE. It's a quality company that has a great record.
Don't do this to me. Why would you do this to me?
geez louise, that's how i feel; there was all this "we're only doing OUR games now" from bioware. i thought that k3 was undoubtably not from them
this is pretty cheesy rumor though. the bloodly jade empire team could just be quiet since they're doing jade empire 3
man, we all wish for k3, but this is no better than any of the other worthless rumors,...........................that being said, k3 and from BIOWARE, i'll go ahead and hope
I played the first, but not the second yet. One of these days I will get around to it...hopefully before part 3 comes out lol.
if you have a PC up to it, it's much better than on the xbox; controls are much better, graphics can be MUCH better, and most of all LOADING TIMES are tiny, while on the Y-BOX they're long
i'm replaying k1 and k2 right now; gotten quite into it. previously, i played with a ton of mods but now i've limited to just a few
k1
lightsaber and clothing skins
all in one force powers
hardcore mod
k2
hardocre mod
"final touch" all inclusive mod
upper level force powers
some skins
enjoying it; plays on pretty high settings on my x800gto, a64 3200+, 1gb ram, and loads are very quick
i also highly reccommend redhawke's mods, especially turning carth, canderous, and mission into jedi if you haven't tried that way; if you're willing to get into a little editing you can piece together a bunch of content mods like jabba's palace, exar kun's tomb, ord mandell, etc.
i found most of the content mods to be a little low on quality, even if they took a ton of work to do; no voiced dialogue, rather lousy story elements (sorry folks) etc. but still can be very cool if your'e in love with the universe; there are really dedicated folks
right now i've got my k1 character on the last map on korriban and k2 is just starting on nar shadaa, got baudur and atton jedi's thanks to "final touch" mod which it seems put influence on 100 :) i'll live with that
my biggest mod complaint is that peole make things too powerful, so then i have to ramp up to a harder hardocre mod, and then you just have long battles where you can't hit each other cuz your defense is mad high, and it throws the game off; reason i isntalled less mods this time; i'd rather the game be more difficult, i don't need anything to make myself more powerful ; i wish modders would make things as powerful as standard, or less, not more
btw:
taris upper city emporium
redhawke kotor mods
fileront kotor pages (pcgamemods is down again)
google those for mods
I'd rather see a next-gen X-Wing :)
No kidding. TIE Fighter is one of my all-time favorites.

Well they are coming out with Wing Commander Arena for Live Arcade. Which could be cool, but I haven't seen any gameplay shots yet.
I don't understand why there hasn't been a good space sim in ten years.

From the news so far, the Battlestar Galactica space combat game for XBLA will be what you are looking for, not Arena.
(I'm busy at work or I'd find the posts that did contain Arena shots/video - they should be easy enough to find.)
