So I have had my Skyfi2 for a couple years now and have loved it. But there is one thing that always bothers me. If I want to listen to something again, i.e. a song or what was said, it will play again, but there is always these bursts of static throughout the part that is being replayed. In a way its almost like when you go under a bunch of bridges and you loose signal for a second you get that little bit of static, and then it comes back on. Now granted when I was listening to it the first time, there was no interference, its only when I am replaying something. This happens if I am in the car or at work - where I am stationary. Its kind of annoying, and always seems to ruin the point of playback.

Do I have a faulty player or is this to prevent copying?

It's your SkyFi. You shouldn't hear any static, live or recorded.

Hmmm... now what to do.... wish I would have looked more into this a couple years ago. Guess I can always contact XM.

SkiFi2's been out awhile now so they must be dirt cheap by now on Ebay. Look around just for the unit itself. You don't need the cradles etc., just look into getting a unit.

XM Radio just sent an appreciation email to me with an offer for a new skyfi 2 for 9.99 or about $16 with shipping. That's one way to get a cheap replacement for your machine. I bought mine and I don't even have a car (use xm at home and the internet)

Tech guy stated it sounds like the buffer is a little out of whack. I am to try resetting to factory standards and hope that that works. Otherwise he suggested that I go on Ebay and try to find just a Unit that I might be able to get for like $50. Maybe I can find a cheap Skyfi3.

I think you can find a 2 for cheaper then $50. Does the 3 work with the 2's equipment? Cradle, etc.?

I didn't even know there was one out there until I went on Ebay. I don't think it does, and honestly I probably won't get a 3. I need to sit down, reset the thing, and see what happens.
