I'm going to be moving to a new house about 6 1/2 hours away and I'll be taking my Hitachi RPTV with me. I'm just trying to decide how to best go about doing this. What precautions should I take? Should I do this myself or trust a moving company with it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Tough call. I've heard horror stories about damaged goods caused by some moving companies poor practices. Personally, I would rather do it myself as I know I would be a lot more particular with how the tv was packed and handled.

My son recently relocated and did all of his moving via a U-HAUL truck. However, he loaded his Mitsubishi (3 year old 60" Diamond Vision CRT projection)in the back of a pickup truck and moved it by itself. He protected the screen and piano black finish with a soft cotton blanket, then wrapped the entire set with two layers of moving pads/blankets. He then secured the set so that it wouldn't roll or move.
It arrived at his new home without damage or problems.
