Just to start off, I purchashed the XBR1 about 13 months ago. After 6 months I got the familiar blob on the screen. After some talk with Sony they offered to give me the newer model the XBR2, but I would have to wait 2 months. I finally got the set and all was great until tonight. The set turned off and the power LED flashed 4 times over and over. I called Sony and they said tough luck you're a month out of warranty (Oops forgot to get extended warranty). My last ditch effort to save me alot of money was to blow on the back of the T.V. where the fan is and presto it came on. I hope this is my cure, if not no more Sony for me. Any other advice would be appreciated.
